Our Candela GentleMax Pro Plus uses the Alexandrite 755 nm wavelength, which is best suited for Fitzpatrick skin types I to III (lighter skin tones with surface pigmentation). If you have a deeper skin tone (Fitzpatrick IV to VI), this specific treatment is not recommended for you, as it may cause unwanted pigment changes. We will evaluate your skin type during your consultation and recommend the safest, most effective option for your goals.

Four main causes. (1) Sun exposure: UV radiation is the biggest driver of surface pigmentation. Cumulative damage triggers excess melanin production. (2) Aging: melanocytes become irregular and deposit pigment unevenly over decades. (3) Genetics: some people are predisposed to freckles and pigmented lesions regardless of sun exposure. (4) Hormonal changes: pregnancy, birth control, and menopause can trigger melasma and uneven pigmentation.

Treated spots typically darken for 24 to 72 hours, then naturally flake or fade over 1 to 2 weeks. Sessions repeat every 4 weeks. Most clients see optimal results at 6 to 12 weeks. There is no downtime, so you can return to normal activities immediately.

Pricing varies by area. Small areas (single spot, nose, chin, hands) are $150 per session. Medium areas (full face, neck, chest, forearms) are $300. Large areas (face plus neck, full chest, upper back) are $400. Final pricing is confirmed during your consultation.

Most clients see significant fading after the first session. Depending on the density of pigmentation and area treated, 1 to 3 sessions spaced 4 weeks apart typically produce optimal results. Heavier sun damage may benefit from additional sessions.

Most clients describe each pulse as a quick rubber-band snap followed immediately by cooling. The Candela GentleMax Pro Plus includes a built-in Dynamic Cooling Device that protects the skin and keeps discomfort minimal. No topical numbing is typically needed.

No downtime. Most clients return to normal activities immediately. Avoid sun exposure, hot showers, saunas, and exfoliants for 7 days. Apply broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher daily to protect your results.

Spots successfully treated by the laser are gone. However, new pigmentation can form with continued UV exposure or hormonal changes. Daily SPF and ongoing sun protection are essential to maintain your results. Genetic freckles may gradually return with significant sun exposure.
