It does not remove fat and it is not a replacement for surgery when the lids are very heavy or affect vision. If surgery would serve you better, we will tell you honestly at your consultation.

How to prepare

  • Book a consultation first. We confirm your skin type and treatment area before any Plasma Pen appointment.
  • Pause retinoids, acids and exfoliating products for about a week before, or as your provider directs.
  • Avoid tanning and heavy sun exposure for 2 weeks before treatment.
  • Tell us if you get cold sores. Your provider may recommend a preventive plan before lip area treatment.
  • Plan your calendar around 7 to 10 days of visible carbon dots.

Aftercare

  • Leave the carbon dots alone. Do not pick or scrub them, they flake off on their own.
  • Keep the area clean and use only the aftercare products we recommend.
  • Wait until your provider clears you before wearing makeup on the treated area.
  • Skip saunas, hot yoga and heavy sweating for the first few days.

Plasma Pen is usually postponed or not recommended if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, have an active infection or cold sore in the area, have a history of keloid scarring, have recently taken isotretinoin, or have a deeper skin tone with a higher risk of pigment changes.
