Laser hair removal in Apple Valley, MN

Shaving, waxing, and tweezing add up to thousands of dollars and hundreds of hours over a lifetime. At Aesthetic Beauty Lab in Apple Valley, MN, our Candela laser targets and disables hair follicles for long-lasting hair reduction, with built-in cooling that makes each pulse feel like a quick snap rather than a sting.

Every package at ABL is backed by our Lifetime Guarantee. If hair returns after your completed series, additional sessions on your purchased areas are included. We can stand behind that because Candela is FDA-cleared for hair reduction across Fitzpatrick skin types I through VI and every session is performed by trained clinical staff. Full guarantee terms are provided in writing at your consultation.

Results vary by individual. Hair color matters more than skin tone: gray, white, and very light blonde hair contains little pigment and does not respond well to any laser.

Why Clients Choose ABL

Benefits of Laser Hair Removal

Most clients see a substantial, lasting reduction in hair density after completing their series, with occasional maintenance sessions after that. With the ABL Lifetime Guarantee, those maintenance sessions never cost extra. Individual results vary.

From upper lip to full legs, the laser targets hair follicles while sparing surrounding skin. Treatments take 15 to 60 minutes depending on the area.

The Dynamic Cooling Device fires a burst of cooling before each laser pulse. Most clients describe the sensation as a quick rubber-band snap. Return to normal activities immediately after your session.

Laser hair removal is commonly used to manage recurring ingrown hairs and razor irritation, particularly on the bikini area, neck, and underarms. No more restocking razors and wax kits every month.

ABL invested in Candela because it performs well across a wide range of skin types. Pairing it with our Lifetime Guarantee means you get proven technology and a clear commitment to your outcome.

Fitzpatrick IV–VI · 1064 nm Nd:YAG

Laser hair removal for deeper skin tones

If you have been told your skin is too dark for laser hair removal, you were told that because of the machine, not because of your skin. Our Candela platform includes a 1064 nm Nd:YAG wavelength, which is the clinically appropriate choice for Fitzpatrick types IV, V, and VI.

Filled types are treated with the Nd:YAG wavelength. Your type is confirmed at consultation.

755 nm

Alexandrite

Fitzpatrick I–III

Strongly absorbed by melanin, which makes it efficient on lighter skin with dark hair. That same strong absorption is the problem on deeper skin: the laser cannot easily tell the pigment in the follicle from the pigment in the surrounding skin.

1064 nm

Nd:YAG

Fitzpatrick IV–VI

A longer wavelength that is absorbed far less by surface melanin and travels deeper to reach the follicle. It passes through epidermal pigment rather than heating it, which is why it is the standard of care for deeper skin tones and why clinics without it turn those clients away.

How we treat deeper skin differently

  • Patch test first. We test a small area and check it before committing to a full session. Non-negotiable for types IV through VI.
  • Conservative starting fluence. We build energy across sessions rather than starting aggressively.
  • Longer pulse durations. Heat is delivered more gradually so the epidermis has time to shed it.
  • Dynamic Cooling Device on every pulse. Cryogen fires before the laser, cooling the skin surface.
  • Honest intervals. Deeper skin sometimes needs more spacing between sessions. We will tell you to wait when waiting is correct.

What we will tell you honestly

Nd:YAG makes laser hair removal appropriate for deeper skin tones. It does not make it risk-free. The main risk in Fitzpatrick IV through VI is post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, meaning temporary darkening of the treated area, and it is more likely if you have recent sun exposure or skip aftercare.

Deeper skin tones may also need a few more sessions than lighter skin to reach the same result. Your unlimited-session package already covers that, which is part of why we structure pricing the way we do.

And one thing no laser can change: results depend on pigment in the hair. Gray, white, and very light blonde hair does not respond, whatever your skin tone.

Razor bumps and ingrown hairs

Pseudofolliculitis barbae (chronic razor bumps on the beard line, neck, or bikini area) happens when coarse, curved hair re-enters the skin after shaving and triggers inflammation. It is most common in people with tightly coiled hair, and shaving technique alone rarely solves it.

Laser hair removal treats the cause rather than the symptom: fewer hairs regrowing means fewer hairs curling back into the skin. It is one of the most established medical uses of the technology, and the Nd:YAG wavelength makes it accessible at the skin tones where the condition is most common.

PCOS and hormonal hair growth

Hirsutism from PCOS or other hormonal conditions typically shows up on the chin, jawline, neck, chest, and stomach. It is persistent, it is not a grooming failure, and constant tweezing or waxing often makes the irritation worse.

Laser can substantially reduce the burden, with an honest caveat: because hormones keep stimulating follicles, hormonal hair growth usually needs ongoing maintenance rather than a one-time series. Unlimited sessions for life is genuinely the right package structure for this, which is why we built it that way.

Laser hair removal uses concentrated light energy to target the melanin pigment in hair follicles. The light converts to heat, which damages the follicle and slows future growth. Hair grows in cycles, so multiple sessions are needed to catch every follicle during its active growth phase. ABL packages include unlimited sessions backed by the Lifetime Guarantee.

Our packages include unlimited sessions spaced 5 weeks apart, backed by the Lifetime Guarantee. Many clients reach their goal after 10 or more sessions, though results vary by skin type, hair color, hormones, and treatment area. With unlimited sessions you never pay extra to keep going.

Most clients describe each pulse as a quick rubber-band snap immediately followed by cooling. The Candela laser includes a built-in Dynamic Cooling Device that protects the skin and reduces discomfort. Many clients tell us it is more tolerable than waxing.

Yes, when the right wavelength is used. Our Candela platform includes a 1064 nm Nd:YAG, which is the clinically appropriate choice for Fitzpatrick types IV, V, and VI. Clinics that only run a 755 nm alexandrite often decline deeper skin tones, which is why so many people are told they are not candidates. We patch test before your first full session, start at conservative energy settings, and build from there. The main risk to be aware of in deeper skin is post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, meaning temporary darkening of the treated area, which is why sun avoidance and aftercare matter more here.

Nd:YAG is a 1064 nm laser wavelength. Because it is absorbed far less by melanin at the skin's surface, it can travel deeper and reach the hair follicle without heating the surrounding skin the way a shorter wavelength does. A 755 nm alexandrite laser is strongly absorbed by melanin, which works well on lighter skin with dark hair but struggles to distinguish follicle pigment from skin pigment in Fitzpatrick IV through VI. Having both wavelengths on one platform means we select based on your skin, rather than fitting your skin to one machine.

It is one of the most established uses of the technology. Pseudofolliculitis barbae, commonly called razor bumps, occurs when coarse or tightly coiled hair curls back into the skin after shaving and causes inflammation. Laser reduces the number of hairs regrowing, so there are fewer hairs able to re-enter the skin. Because the condition is most common in people with tightly coiled hair and deeper skin tones, the Nd:YAG wavelength is usually the appropriate choice. Common treatment areas are the beard line, neck, and bikini area.

It can substantially reduce hair on the chin, jawline, neck, chest, and stomach, with one honest caveat: because hormones continue stimulating follicles, hormonal hair growth typically needs ongoing maintenance rather than a single completed series. That is exactly what our unlimited-sessions-for-life package structure is designed for. We also recommend working with your physician on the underlying hormonal picture alongside treatment.

Pricing is package-based and varies by treatment area. Because every ABL package includes unlimited sessions and a Lifetime Guarantee, the cost is fixed once and you never pay per session. We offer financing through Cherry, CareCredit, PatientFi, Affirm and Klarna. Call 952-256-2223 for current pricing on your areas of interest.

Shave the treatment area 24 hours before your appointment. Avoid sun exposure, self-tanner, waxing, and plucking for 4 weeks before treatment. Do not apply lotions, creams, deodorant, or makeup to the treatment area on the day of your session.

No downtime. Most clients return to normal activities immediately. Avoid sun exposure, hot showers, saunas, hot tubs, and intense exercise for 24 to 48 hours after treatment. Apply sunscreen daily to the treated area.

We ask clients to wait until after pregnancy and breastfeeding to begin or continue laser hair removal. Hormonal changes during pregnancy can affect hair growth patterns, and we want your results to last.

Most people are good candidates regardless of skin tone. Results depend heavily on hair pigment, so gray, white, and very light blonde hair responds poorly to any laser. Take our 60-second laser hair removal quiz, then schedule a consultation. We will review your skin type, hair characteristics, medical history, and goals to create a custom treatment plan.

Yes. We accept Cherry, CareCredit, PatientFi, Affirm and Klarna, all offering flexible monthly payment plans with quick online approval. This makes package pricing easy to fit into any budget.

This page is for general information and is not medical advice. Laser hair removal reduces hair growth over a series of sessions. Results are not permanent, and maintenance sessions are usually needed. Individual results vary based on hair color, hair density, hormones, skin type, and adherence to the treatment schedule. A consultation is required before treatment. Lifetime Guarantee terms are provided in writing at your consultation.
