What Are Vascular Lesions?
At Aesthetic Beauty Lab in Apple Valley, MN, our Candela GentleMax Pro Plus uses Nd:YAG 1064 nm wavelength technology to safely treat vascular lesions across all skin types. The deep-penetrating wavelength reaches vessels beneath the skin surface for thorough clearance, while reduced melanin absorption makes it one of the safest vascular lasers available, including for darker skin tones. We treat cherry angiomas, broken capillaries, facial telangiectasia, and small spider veins, but not varicose veins (we'll refer you to a vein specialist for those). Conveniently serving Apple Valley, Burnsville, Eagan, Lakeville, Rosemount, and the greater Twin Cities.
What Are Vascular Lesions?
Small bright-red benign blood vessel growths on the skin surface, often called 'red dots.' These respond extremely well to laser treatment and are often cleared in just 1 to 2 sessions. The spot darkens immediately post-treatment (this is expected) and clears gradually over 2 to 4 weeks.
Fine dilated vessels visible through the skin, often on the face. Conservative settings on the Nd:YAG 1064 nm laser ensure safety and protect delicate facial tissue. Most clients see significant clearance in 1 to 3 sessions, with progressive fading over 2 to 6 weeks.
Chronic dilation of superficial capillaries, typically around the nose, cheeks, and chin. The Nd:YAG laser precisely seals these vessels for clearer skin. Immediate vessel graying or blanching after treatment confirms an effective response.
Small superficial veins with a web-like appearance, common on the legs and face. The laser improves small, fine, superficial spider veins, especially when very fine in diameter, flat (not bulging), and in a safe treatment zone.
We do not treat varicose veins, deep or large-diameter veins, raised or bulging vessels, or medically significant veins. These require sclerotherapy or evaluation by a vein specialist. We assess every client at consultation and refer when appropriate.

Our Candela GentleMax Pro Plus uses the Nd:YAG 1064 nm wavelength, which is one of the safest vascular lasers available, including for darker skin tones. The deeper-penetrating wavelength reduces melanin absorption risk, making it safe across the full Fitzpatrick skin type spectrum. We cannot treat clients who are pregnant or breastfeeding, have an active infection or herpes outbreak in the area, recent tanning or sunburn, suspicious lesions requiring medical evaluation, used isotretinoin (Accutane) within the past 6 months, or have bleeding disorders or take anticoagulants.
The laser targets oxyhemoglobin, the pigment found in blood. Laser energy is selectively absorbed by the vessel, causing it to heat up and collapse, while surrounding tissue is left unharmed. The body then naturally clears the closed vessel over the following weeks. The Nd:YAG 1064 nm wavelength penetrates deeper than other lasers for more thorough clearance, targets vessels precisely, and reduces melanin absorption risk for safer treatment of all skin tones.
Cherry angiomas typically need 1 to 2 sessions 4 weeks apart (often cleared after the first session). Broken capillaries need 1 to 3 sessions 4 to 6 weeks apart. Spider veins need 3 to 6 sessions 4 to 6 weeks apart. During treatment, you'll feel quick snapping pulses with cooling from our DCD system. Vessels appear gray or darker immediately, confirming effective treatment. Mild redness and swelling for 24 to 48 hours is normal, and lesions will darken then fade naturally over 2 to 4 weeks. Do not pick or scratch, let them clear naturally.
